After sleeping in to recover from the night train we went up to the hotel rooftop for a delicious breakfast overlooking the outer city. Bram felt like he was losings too much weight so he ordered 3 portions of eggs. Luckily me and Dani don't have that so an omelette for me, Dani saw muesli on the menu so tried out the local version. Came across pretty good but wasn't so lucky with the tea which smelled pretty good but tasted like someone had already tried it and decided to spit it back out. Nasty stuff, but of course we all had to try it out :-D
Then it was time to get down to work on giving Lily the makeover she claims she needs before she's presented to the world. We headed to Rickshaw Run HQ for our first test drive and repair instruction session. We had a bunch of things we need to get from the market, extra battery, seat covers, cleaning supplies, etc. so Dani and me headed back into down with our personal autorickshaw taxi for a little shopping spree while Bram stayed back to figure out how to repair the carburetor.
Cows are considered holy in the Hindu faith and we've seen a lot of them so far. I respect the believe that we should not own or kill these animals, I mean, could be that it's a reincarnation of someone in my family, right? As nice as it seems when you picture free cows in your head reality is nothing like what it looks in your head. We've seen so many gangs of cows roaming the streets of Jaisalmer almost like packs of street dogs going from garbage bin to the next eating anything they can find. One was actually able to take a bag out of the garbage bin, rip it open and eat whatever the contents was. Some don't even bother and just take the entire plastic bag in the mouth. Haven't seen any chocking on plastic bags yet but from what we've heard it's fairly common. Seeing them like that, roaming around in cities eating whatever they can find is pretty sad to see.
Ok, back to Lily. We got her pimped up, went for a few rounds without tipping her over which we thought was a good start than went into a meeting about filming the adventure. Turns out this race will be filmed for a US prime time documentary which Kohinoor Khiladis will be one of the featured teams. Exciting stuff!
A few drinks poolside getting to know some of our fellow adventurers then off to dinner... but first a short pit stop. Bram needs a shave so headed to the barbershop which was pretty cool to see. $1 for a shave and massage coming out baby face smooth in 15 minutes. Not bad at all.
After a quick dinner back to the hotel for an early night.
Only 2 days until we hit the road. We're ahead of plans so the next few days should be a little chilled.
